Knit and Crochet Blog Week: Where I Fit In

It is the 4th Annual Knitting and Crochet Blog Week hosted by Eskimimi Makes! I participated last year and you can read those posts here.

This year, we have been challenged to set up residence in one of four houses: bee, manatee, monkey or peacock.

Bees are busy and industrious flitting from one interesting project to the next as shiny objects catch their eye.
I am for sure a bee! My life is wild and crazy busy. I flap my little wings as hard as I can in the hope of creating beauty.

Bees are busy and industrious

I am not one of those people who does well sitting still. I would be miserable if I was just sitting there watching TV. So I crochet during TV time and car time and any time that I have a chance where I am sitting still and can pay attention to my hands.

Flitting from one project to the next

My attention span is definitely not a strong suit. I often times get bored mid-project and can't wait to get started on the next one. So, I jump full-force into the next project (sometimes before finishing the project before it). At one point I had all of these projects in progress all at once...

I just counted...there are 9 different items sitting there and a wide range of projects. There were a few amigurumi, a few photography props and a few practical items for everyday use. It seems I can't even commit to stick with one particular group of items. I will probably never complete a blanket because I can't focus long enough for a project that large.

As Shiny Objects Catch Their Eye

What can I say? I love to dabble! I have met very few crafts that I didn't like, but crochet has for now (and probably forever) captured my heart. I love Pinterest and gain so much inspiration there that just leaves me sad that I can't crochet more than I already do. I have purchased nearly 100 patterns and have made less than half of them. Flavia the Unicorn is on my to-buy list and I won't be able to hold-off very long before I finally buy that pattern. Why? Because it's so pretty and caught my eye and I have an idea that will be easy to execute with supplies I already have on hand.

What are you? Where do you fit in?

Here is a round-up of the houses you can choose:
  • Bee: Busy & industrious and slightly distracted by shiny things
  • Manatee: Gentle & relaxed representing the comfort and soft side of your craft
  • Monkey: Intelligent & fun-loving who likes to be challenged with something new in every project
  • Peacock: Flashy & amazing people who take something good and make it brilliant
Maybe you aren't a blogger and want to join the fun. Leave me a comment and tell me which house fits you best. I think we all could probably fit into a few houses, but choose only one and tell me why.

    1. That sounds very similar to me. My schedule may be slightly more ridiculous...for example, this is every Wednesday for me:
Wake between 5 & 6 a.m. Leave the house by 6:15. Work until 4:30 p.m. Workout until 5:30. Shower at the gym and leave by 6 p.m. Arrive home a few minutes before 7 p.m. to help my mom get my sons ready to walk out the door for Bible study. Arrive at Bible study on time at 7 and stay til 8 p.m. Arrive home by 8:30 and put our boys to bed. My husband and I will then eat dinner and lull around for an hour or so before going to bed. Then, we'll play on our tablets/read until around 10 p.m. and finally fall asleep.

Wednesday is the hardest day of my week followed by Tuesday and Thursday. Monday is our day to recover from the weekend. Friday is our day to recover from the week.

  4. I am not sure where I fit in. I am a very busy bee... but my projects usually stem from big old lightbulbs going off in my head, so perhaps I am a peacock? My blog is a new venture... glad I found you to follow! :D
